Final Thought

I wanted to say thank you for the beautiful card and messages. You made our jobs(Bobby and myself) easy by being a great responsive group. The young people in your classes will be the fortunate ones to have a dynamic and outstanding teacher as I know all of you are. As the song goes" May your dreams be BIG and your worries be small" Keep in touch and see you at the opening of the AP Teacher Show.

OK, so I was halfway to Spartanburg this morning when I realized, Hey! I don't have class until Friday! Boy, do I feel silly!

This has been an awesome experience for me. I've gathered a lot of information and insight thanks to the gernosity of Mary Lou and Robert and of my classmates. And, it was enjoyable just by the nature of those who attended. It was well worth the fanny fatigue, sleep deprivation, and Carpal Tunnel from Blogging! ;-)

I hope everyone has a fabulous summer and that Jennifer gets her pool time!

I survived the long ride home and slept soooo late this morning. This class was the best one I've ever taken and I feel so much better about AP in general. I forgot about bringing in things to share. Maybe we can post lists of things we have to share on this site and then e-mail them to those who want them? What do you guys think?

I think that's a great idea, Heather! Count me in!

I emailed my AP Coordinator regarding funding. the State Dept allocates funds based upon the 45 day G & T count. There is also a Word document on the State Dept's website that lists allocations by district, as well as other AP info. The URL is: AP Stuff I Wanna Know. Also, when you submitted your syllabi to College Board, your principal had to attest to your being funded by the school for adequate materials and resources. Our school charges students a $30 fee for AP Art that goes directly to the Art Dept's account. Fees go toward the purchase of materials and resources. Slide processing expenses are paid from the school's AP budget. I hope this helps.

Good Morning, AP Buddies! I miss you all already! KT, you would make a great lawyer - you know how to get things done!

I can't tell you how many USELESS and BORING classes I have sat through in my career - we all have endured them! I always take my sketchbook to faculty meetings and inservices so that I can remain conscious! Bless their hearts - they see me busy with my pencil and think they are feeding me such wonderful information that I am writing down every word they say. (Just be sure to occasionally look up and make eye contact with the presenter and smile and nod). I wish all my future courses could be like THIS one! Thank you, Mary Lou! You made it all real. I can't think of one single thing to make it better - you have done an amazing job putting the class together. Bobby, you added so much to the class. Thank you for being so generous with your experience.

On a sad note, my dear Aunt Grace passed away peacefully late last night. The doctor turned off her pacemaker yesterday. Many of you were so kind to ask me about her each day. As soon as I turn in my documents to Mary Lou this morning I'm heading up to NC to be with my mother, Uncle Albert, and my three cousins.

Keep in touch - if any of you ever come to Spartanburg, give me a call and we'll hang out!

You guys won't believe this, but I just rode by my school to see that they had torn down my old art room to build me a new arts wing like at Wade Hampton. It's fabulous.

I just want to echo all the praises. I don't remember a class where I got so much useable information. Aren't Mary Lou and Robert are a terrific team? Please sign me up for anything else they teach. I wish they would do a Master's or a +30. Don't you?

Can we get together at the conference? Yarbi and Heather, would you be willing to suggest a place for us to have a reunion supper?

I loved getting to know all of you. May your summer be restful. May your batteries be recharged. May your class sizes be small and your budgets skyhigh.

Cindy, I didn't see the post about your aunt until just now. I am so sorry. I know she meant the world to you. I pray that you and your family will feel God wrap you up in His love, strength, and comfort.
