Final Thought

I wanted to say thank you for the beautiful card and messages. You made our jobs(Bobby and myself) easy by being a great responsive group. The young people in your classes will be the fortunate ones to have a dynamic and outstanding teacher as I know all of you are. As the song goes" May your dreams be BIG and your worries be small" Keep in touch and see you at the opening of the AP Teacher Show.

Reminder for Next Week

Just a reminder for next week. We will be back in class in the visual arts center at USC Upstate on Monday at 9am. Field trip on Tuesday. Class again on Wed. Don't forget your museum papers and completed art piece for the FOCUS show (especially if you are out of town). Everyone has been "blogging up" a storm. TOTALLY EXCELLENT. I have checked on the blog over the week but chose not to post except for the daily questions. Look forward to seeing my merry group back at Upstate.

Day Five

Briefly describe the CLIA lesson you plan to write up for the class and share with everyone.
I use one of the first class days of the year to show AP slides to my AP class. I bring snacks and drinks. I begin with the slides I have ordered from AP Central. This really intimidates them. Then I show slides that I have of my past students' AP work. They still comment, "What have I gotten myself into?!" and, "I might need to go get my schedule changed!". They are just kidding of course. But I do believe that a little fear at this point is a good thing - it gets them off on a serious note about the daunting task ahead. Of course I reassure them and tell them that none of them would even be in the AP class if I didn't have complete confidence in their abilities. I think it's important to set the bar high...that's what AP is all about!

I am a dinosaur! Am I doing this correctly? If anyone in our AP group gets this, PLEASE let me know ASAP. I've been trying to 'blog' for an hour and a half and can't get going! Auugh! CindyG
